Ferrari goes green with the ethanol F430

14 January 2008

This is the most eco-friendly Ferrari yet to grace the automotive industry. Named the Ferrari F430 Spider Biofuel, this is essentially a showcase for Ferrari's new biofuel technology, which has been fitted to a standard F430 spider.

Ethanol is well know to produce more power than petrol, and reports suggest that this F430 receives a power boost of around two per cent, torque increase of around four per cent, and five per cent better average economy when running on bio-ethanol.

Ferrari has clearly stated that the F430 Biofuel is a concept car, and isn't due for production at the moment.

However, it is rumoured that this is only due to the lack of availability of Ethanol E85 in Ferrari's main markets - especially North America. If this increasingly popular biofuel (which consists of 85 per cent Ethanol and 15 per cent petrol) becomes more readily available, the F430 Spider Biofuel may well make it to the showrooms.
