Think you'll be home by 6pm?

19 October 2007

If you're considering leaving work early today, you'll have to do so at about lunchtime to avoid the traffic.

According to data gathered by Trafficmaster and the RAC, tonight's traffic will be the worst of the year due to a combination of the beginning of the half term, poor weather and a high level of commuters.

If you live around London, you won't be surprised to know that the Western sector of the M25 is the most congested road in Britain, replacing the M1 in Hertfordshire as the top congestion hotspot. Avoid both if you want to get home before Saturday.

The RAC also warns that 'Black Friday' could be the worst day for accidents.

More people are killed and injured on the roads between 4pm and 6pm every Friday than any other time in the week, so the rush to get home mixed with extra congestion this evening will require even more caution on the roads.

Even when you're at a standstill at Junction 14 on the London orbital.
