Dacia’s released a motorsport kit that transforms the humble Logan saloon into the world’s most unlikely Group N rally machine.

The Logan Motorsport is a budget way of going racing, using Europe’s cheapest car as a base and parent company Renault’s performance parts for the power.

Using parts from the Renaultsport Clio rally car, the 1.6 litre Logan Motorsport gets a roll cage, fire extinguisher, uprated ECU, Bilstein shock absorbers, racing seats and harnesses and a host of other track-only upgrades.

It’s not exactly a beast though, with only 90bhp even after the upgrades - but it is very cheap. Logans aren’t sold in Britain but cost about £4500 in France before tax, plus the motorsport upgrade, which costs around £3000 without fitting.

So that’s under £10,000 for the complete race-spec car, with which you can go rallying in Group N, trialling at hillclimbs or racing in the Logan Cup, a new one-make series that’s been organised in France.
