Do you have trouble parking? Nissan reckons it may have come up with the answer.
It’s introducing a parking camera that gives you a 360-degree view around the car.
The Around View Monitor uses four wide-angle cameras – one on the front, one at the back and one on each side – and synthesises a bird’s eye view of 180 degrees around either the front or rear of the car, depending on which gear is selected.
The system superimposes the car’s current path on the monitor, according the angle of the steering wheel, to aid the driver when reverse or parallel parking.
We’re sure it’s very clever, but so far every camera-based park assist system we’ve tried has proved more confusing than helpful.
Around View Monitor makes its debut on the Japanese-market Elgrand MPV next month, and will be available as an option on the Infiniti EX35 SUV when it arrives in the UK next year.
