Mazda will launch this handsome replacement for its 6 estate next March, about three months after the new saloon and hatchback models hit the UK market.

The chassis and suspension are developments of the previous model but, at 4765mm, the new estate is 75mm longer, 10mm taller and 15mm wider.

Like the Mazda 6 hatchback, the new estate is claimed to have the widest loading aperture in its class (1066mm) and features a seat-folding mechanism that can be operated in one action from behind the car, plus a luggage cover that automatically rises when you open the tailgate.

Prices start at around £16,000 for the 1.8 litrre base petrol version, and rise to around £23,000 for the best-equipped turbodiesel model.
