Chrysler has come to a tentative agreement with the United Auto Workers union, ending a strike of around 49,000 workers the same day that it started.
The agreement includes a memorandum of understanding to establish an independent retiree health care trust, as well as other changes, all pending ratification by members of the union.
Chrysler says that the new arrangement "balances the needs of our employees and company by providing a framework to improve our long-term manufacturing competitiveness".
If only the British Post Office strike could be sorted out so quickly.
