Renault/Nissan still seeking US partner
04 October 2007
Despite failing to secure an alliance with GM last year, Renault/Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn has told Autocar that he is still keen to extend the alliance to include a North American car-maker.
“The logic is still there,” he said “but we will have to have a common appetite and there has to be mutual interest. GM’s appetite was not the same.”
Ghosn didn’t disclose which other car-makers he was interested in tie-ups with, but credited Nissan and Renault’s success to its alliance. “Renault/Nissan is the only alliance that’s working in the car industry. It’s delivered value and strategically it makes sense.”
