On video: track day questions answered

If you’re lucky enough to own a performance car and you’re keen on driving it fast, you’ll probably have considered taking it onto one of the UK’s frequent organised circuit driving days and giving it a thorough examination.
But which should you go to, what should you do when you get there, and what’s the ideal car to take? Well, make sure you’re sitting comfortably and allow Ex-F1 racer turned circuit owner and track day king Jonathan Palmer to supply the answers, in a 16-minute conversation with Autocar’s very own Chris Harris that covers everything you always wanted to know about track days, but were afraid to ask.
Chris’ video column this week is all about the man who left a career in medicine to race Williams, Zakspeed and Tyrrell F1 cars in the 1980s. After retiring he established the MotorSport Vision company, and bought into four of the UK’s best known racing circuits; Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, Oulton Park and Snetterton.
He also created the UK’s only purpose-built track day circuit – Bedford Autodrome, a venue whose abundance of run-off and lack of armco makes it unsuitable for motor racing as a spectator sport, but ideal for driving your road car quickly on a circuit without any major fear of crashing it.
