Merc spins off fleet special E-class

09 August 2007

As if it weren't executive enough, Mercedes has produced a high-spec, low price edition of the E-class saloon intended to attract more corporate buyers for the car before its replacement comes along next year.

The E-class Executive will cost £28,515 - £677 less than the E220 CDI it's based on - and comes with £2500-worth of additional extras.

Three metallic colours are available; two shades of silver and a black, and new 16in seven spoke alloy wheels come as part of the deal too. So nothing too daring, then.

Telephone pre-wiring, a six-disc CD changer, climate control and electronic seats are included as standard, plus additional styling touches such as chrome door strips.

Most importantly, by using the 2.2-litre diesel engine the E-Class Executive qualifies for low taxable benefit rates, so with the money you save on company car tax, you'll be able buy the Porsche 911 Turbo instead of the boring-old-GT3 as your weekend car.
