Jaguar: what should Ford do?

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

This week, Autocar asks a simple question that's nonetheless a vital one for two of the biggest names in British car-making: what should be done with Ford's remaining UK-based Premier Automotive Group brands, Jaguar and Land Rover?

The controversy surrounding these two historic marques has been rumbling on for weeks, and we expect news from Ford and PAG soon identifying the foremost bidders for the two intertwined brands.

However, is Ford right to sell? This week in Autocar magazine, you'll find writers Hilton Holloway, Peter Robinson, Julian Rendell and Steve Cropley each arguing for a different course of action by Ford.

Once you've read them, we'd like you to decide whether your think the Midlands-based sister brands should be retained as they are, massively overhauled under Ford's ownership, split up and run as entirely separate concerns, or sold off to the highest bidder.

Get Autocar magazine, on sale today, to read the respective arguments for each course of action; once you've done that, cast your vote by clicking here.

We'll be compiling your votes next week, after the vote ends on Wednesday night. Look out for a news story with the results on Friday 3 August.
