The fastest jobs in the world

20 July 2007

How would you like to work for Porsche? Well if you’re a budding young engineer or mechanic, this could be your chance.

Porsche is seeking 100 apprentices to join its training scheme in September 2008.

A range of 14 different technical and commercial careers are available. “Solid technical training remains vital to Porsche. It is only with the most highly trained new recruits that we can safeguard our excellent quality standards in the long term,” said Dieter Esser, head of vocational training.

Those in highest demand are industrial mechanics that can be turned into car manufacturers, but Porsche is also after those with technology skills.

Porsche also says that it wants high-school graduates who are willing to work abroad for an extended period of time after completing the apprenticeship, to set up service centres in the growth markets of Russia or China.

“At Porsche, grades are not the be all and end all,” said Esser. “We want young people who have petrol in their veins, team spirit, and technical aptitude.”
