Renaultsport Twingo on the way

Renault is adding a Renaultsport Twingo to the range in 2008, and it will look much the same as the Paris show car from 2006. Previewed in a recent media presentation by a teaser shot of the front of the car, the Twingo RS will be launched at the 2008 Geneva motor show.
Expect it to be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, probably a variant of the 1.2-litre unit in the Twingo GT. Power could be as much as 150bhp, which would enable it to compete with the forthcoming Abarth version of the Fiat 500.
The Paris concept was built to test reaction to a sporty version of the Twingo, and it seems to have gone down well. The teaser shot shows that the production car will get a similar front end. It’s likely that the twin rear pipes and rear diffuser will also make production to provide a visual link with other hot Renaults.
