Last week we brought you the new Infiniti G37 coupe, today it’s its SUV sibling, the EX.

Although the EX is billed as a concept car, Infiniti says this small SUV is very similar to the production version. Along with the G37, it will be available at the new Inifinti dealers in the UK at the end of 2008.

While the EX will get four-wheel drive, it is billed as a crossover, not a proper 4x4. It is based on Nissan’s rear-drive FM platform, which also underpins the 350Z, and will use the same 3.7-litre V6 engine as the G37. There’s the possibility of a diesel option, too, as Infiniti is planning to launch a 250bhp V6 oil-burner for its forthcoming European launch.

The show car features some new technology that will find its way into the production vehicle. The Around View Monitor displays information from cameras mounted around the car’s exterior to reduce blind spots while parking. Lane Departure Prevention automatically corrects the car’s position on the road if the driver allows it to drift out of a lane.

The EX will be pitched against small upmarket off-roaders, such as the BMW X3, and will be priced at around £35,000.
