Latest crash-test results

The latest batch of EuroNCAP crash test results provides more ammunition for those who claim that SUVs aren't as safe as their saloon counterparts.
The cars tested this time included the new Fiat Bravo, the new Toyota Corolla saloon (not sold in the UK), the Honda Legend, Honda CR-V and Mitsubishi Outlander.
While the hatch and two saloons got a maximum five out of five for adult occupant safety, both 4x4s scored four out of five.
It was a similar story in pedestrian protection, where the Corolla and Legend achieved three out of four, while the Bravo, CR-V and Outlander got two.
Still, that's a lot better than the last mid-size SUV that EuroNCAP tested. In December 2006, the Hyundai Santa Fe scored no stars at all for pedestrian safety, a dishonour it shares with the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
There was better news for SUVs in both child occupant safety, however. The Corolla, Legend and CR-V all achieved four out of five, while the Outlander and Bravo managed three.
