With both Germany and Italy within striking distance, the Geneva motor show isn't normally short on supercars, and this year will be no different. We're expecting fresh exotic metal from Maserati, Lamborghini, BMW and Aston Martin, and now from one of Europe's smaller supercar makers – Pagani.

According to rumours currently circulating on the internet, Modena's third best-known car-maker will show the fastest ever Zonda at Geneva. We picked up these shots of it on a Swedish motoring website (see gallery), and they're certainly official- and convicing-looking enough to whet your appetite.

The word is that this will be a new Zonda, and a successor for the 2005 Zonda R. It'll have a slightly longer wheelbase for better high-speed stability, as well as even more extensive use of carbonfibre for a lower kerb weight. It'll be powered by the same AMG V12 engine too, but this time with the wick turned up to 750bhp.

That promises to make the Zonda one of the fastest cars in the world; think 650bhp-per-tonne, 0-100mph in 6.5seconds and, assuming Pagani gets the aerodynamics right, a top speed in excess of 230mph.

There has been no official response yet from Pagani as to the veracity of the story; when one arrives, we'll bring you an update.
