Unless you're Colin Goodwin it's not really the ideal car to drive in the snow, but we still can't think of a better performance bargain than the new Caterham Sigma.
For just £17,495 the Ford-powered Seven packs a colossal 270bhp per tonne. There is also a cheaper 125bhp model for £15,995. The new Sigma engine replaces the K-series engine that Caterham used to use – MG Rover's collapse made for a few supply problems.
As well as the £17,495 Sigma 150 Roadsport, there's a £20,495 Sigma 150 Superlight. This track-focused machine comes with carbonfibre cycle wings, a six-speed gearbox and uprated suspension, and provides 300bhp per tonne.
Caterham is also planning a special 50th anniversary edition of the Seven for the car's Golden Jubilee celebrations at Donington in June.
