Yes, this really is the new Cadillac CTS, revealed today (9 January 2007) at the Detroit motor show.
While we reckon it looks remarkably similar to the old one, Caddy says it "pushes Cadillac's acclaimed design theme higher."
Either way, it is a little sharper to look at than the old car, with which it shares its angular, creased body lines, which Caddy reckons was one of the principal things that attracted buyers.
The new CTS should be sharper to drive, too, thanks to a thoroughly redesigned chassis. The powertrain has been tweaked too. Engines choices are all V6s: a 2.8-litre unit, 3.6-litre 258bhp unit and a new 3.6-litre 300bhp motor, driving through either six-speed manual or automatic gearboxes to the rear wheels. Four-wheel drive will also be an option.
The new CTS goes on sale in the US later this year. European buyers will have to wait until 2008, with right-hand drive versions arriving late next year.
