Remember the funky Iosis X 'concept' unveiled by Ford at the Paris motor show? Here's its production model cousin, snapped racking up development miles as a test mule.

Ford has committed to an SUV crossover by the end of 2007 or early 2008 and it looks like it's on track to achieve that. But while the new vehicle (tipped to adopt 'Cross Max' badging) is expected to stick more closely to the Iosis X's styling than the Focus C-Max-based hack seen here, it will be toned down. After all, Ford is aiming for a slice of the family SUV market, and that means taking on rivals like Volkswagen's Tiguan, which should be in showrooms around the same time.

Given Ford's production targets, expect an official reveal of the car at the Frankfurt motor show in December next year.
