30 August 2006

Nissan's luxury brand Infiniti is inching its way towards Europe - today, it launched in Russia.

The firm's entry into the Russian market was confirmed at the Moscow motor show. It will initially bring the FX SUV crossover and the M luxury saloon, fitting both cars with either 3.5-litre V6 or 4.5-litre V8 engines. But Infiniti has also confirmed that it plans to introduce the G35 sports saloon and the QX56 full-size SUV in 2007. The firm will set up dealerships in Moscow and St Petersburg.

Russia is the latest target in Infiniti's expansion plans. It will launch in China and Ukraine next year, and has plans for a European sales and service network in 2008. At Moscow, it stated that it will establish European headquarters in Rolle, Switzerland.
