Fiat's sporty Punto should be joined by this quick Panda when it appears later this year.

Caught here testing in Turin, the Panda Sporting uses a mildly-tweaked 1.4-litre engine from the Grande Punto, producing 100bhp. That's enough for it to hit 62mph in 9.6sec and go on to a top speed of 115mph.

The test mule seen here suggests that the high-performance Panda isn't going to be an overtly sporting device - but it should sit on 16in alloy wheels, at least.

The car is widely tipped to appear alongside the hot Punto at the Paris motor show. What's less certain is whether Fiat will choose to stick the 'Abarth' badge on the new machine.
