Never mind Ikea, Saab has just released images of the latest bit of Swedish interior design, and there’s no flatpack furniture in sight.

The interior of the 2007 model-year 9-3 has been subtly updated to keep the car fresh, with a revised dashboard and instruments, plus enhanced standard specifications.

Along with clearer, simplified controls and greater use of rotary dials instead of switches, the high-level information display on the top of the dashboard has been removed, with all information now displayed on a central panel beneath the speedometer.

Saab says that the overall effect is “a modern interpretation of the look of the classic, first-generation Saab 900 main fascia.”

Other changes include the option of Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, standard dual-zone climate control, and a six-speed gearbox for all 2.0-litre turbo petrol cars, which now cost £40 more; other prices remain unchanged.
