Volkswagen has upped the firepower of the Polo GTi - but it won't bring the hotter version to the UK.
The GTi Cup Edition has 177bhp on tap, compared to the standard GTi's 147bhp. Given that the baby VW has to take on not only the Ford Fiesta ST but more powerful rivals like the Renaultsport Clio and Vauxhall's forthcoming Corsa VXR, the increased grunt could have proved quite useful.
But a VW spokesperson told autocar.co.uk, "It's a definite no for Britain. It won't be coming here."
The Cup Edition hits 60mph in 7.5sec, 0.7sec less than the standard car. As well as more speed, the Cup has a roof spoiler and front and rear bodykit taken from the Polo Cup racer. It is priced at 1422,425 euros (£15,425).
