Daihatsu has tweaked its Charade city car to improve handling - and boosted the basic specification at the same time.
The new model has revised suspension including a front anti-roll bar and retuned dampers. Daihatsu says the new set-up reduces body roll. The Charade's front brake discs are now ventiled, and it features a revised front grille and bumper too.
All Charades now come with air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, driver and passenger airbags, electric front windows and door mirrors, central locking and a radio/CD player.
The Charade's three-cylinder 1.0-litre engine pushes it to just shy of 100mph, but its main strengths are in economy and emission figures - 68.9mpg Extra Urban and a CO2 reading of 114g/km. The latter figure means it qualifies for reduced road tax fees.
The three-door manual model starts at £6460 on the road, including a three-year unlimited mileage warranty.
