This is the first official image of the Naza Sutera, the latest bargain basement vehicle to be aimed at the British market.

Naza is an importer of luxury vehicles in Malaysia, although it has also assembled cars for Kia. its first car is a five-door baby hatchback with an engine from Daihatsu, styling by Pininfarina and suspension set-up by Lotus.

The 1.1-litre four-cylinder engine produces 65bhp so performance is unlikely to be earth-shattering, but Naza is clearly aiming for the value end of the market. Kit on the Sutera, which could retail for around £6500 in the UK, includes a split-folding rear seat, CD player with MP3 compatibility, dual airbags, electric windows, power steering and central locking.

British importers were at the car's launch and an agreement is already in place, although there's no specified date for the Sutera's arrival on UK shores.

Rumours suggest that a further, larger model will be revealed shortly. It is said to be based on Peugeot 206 mechanicals.
