Suzuki has unveiled a hybrid-electric version of the Kizashi saloon, as well as a turbocharged one

Suzuki has revealed the Suzuki Kizashi EcoCharge concept at the New York motor show.

The petrol-electric variant of the standard saloon car uses a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to a 20bhp electric motor to enhance the car’s fuel economy and to boost power for a “more spirited driving experience.”

The concept also employs a regenerative braking system, stop-start and low-rolling resistance tyres.

Externally, the Kizashi Ecocharge concept gets luminescent white satin paint with blue undercoat, LED fog lights and lightweight alloys.

On the inside, the concept features “advanced seat materials,” which “require 84 per cent less energy to produce, and create 80 per cent fewer emissions than virgin material production,” according to the company.

Suzuki has also unveiled the Kizashi Apex concept, a turbocharged version of the standard saloon.

Power is increased to between 275bhp and 300bhp thanks a Garrett turbocharger, electronic boost control and revisions to the engine’s ECU.

Mated to a new 6-spd gearbox, the Apex gets race bike graphics, lightweight performance alloys and Alcantara and leather-clad interior.
