Refreshed styling inside and out for best-selling supermini; set to reach the UK in March 2011

Vauxhall’s best-selling model, the Corsa supermini, is getting a minor cosmetic facelift for deliveries from March next year.

A new bumper moulding with a wider lower grille and ‘eagle eye’ headlamps are the main changes, although five bright new body colours will also raise the Corsa’s profile next spring. Daytime running lights and extra chrome boost the presence of the current Corsa, now in its fourth year.

Also new are redesigned Griffin badges and 16-inch alloys on the SE and SXi, while the VXR model gets new 18-inch designs, inspired by those on the Insignia VXR.

Inside, it gets the latest multimedia ‘Touch and Connect’ technology, a pointer to the equipment that will be the centrepiece of Vauxhall’s 2013 Junior city car.

Based around a five-inch touch-screen display, it controls sat-nav, CD/tuner, aux-in, USB and Bluetooth phone connectivity.

There are no chassis changes, as Vauxhall heavily revised the Corsa earlier in the year with a new rear axle, revised spring/damper settings, a new steering set-up and geometry and new bushes for the redesigned front anti-roll bar.

Prices are up slightly by about £70 per model.

The Vauxhall Corsa is very refined, stylish and practical. Engines are not so good

its a good looking small car and always has been but why is vauxhall giving it a face lift now would it not have been a better idea to do this at the beginning of the year when the mechanical changes took place and brought it into line then with insignia/astra look

It was too close to the Astra launch, Vauxhall wanted to put all the focus on Astra hence why there was nothing else to shout about during the beginning of the year.

The problem with the Corsa is Vauxhalls attitude towards the stack it high and sell it cheap model, its seriously devalued the product and must be very fustrating to those who paid for the upper spec models. Residuals have crashed and you can buy a wholesale ex rental 59 plate sxi 3 door for as little as £5500, most of which end up at supermarkets.

Vauxhall need to make sure they dont distress sell this facelift model. If you see one advertised brand new for £6495 you will know they failed..... real shame......

This is a successful facelift

There seems to be no such thing. The Corsa and Clio were not bad lookers before their facelifts and lost something in their respective asthetic freshen ups. As to what FIAT did to the Grande Punto when they EVOed it I still can't talk about it. Where the EVO and New Corsa do impress is with their interiors and the lucky drivers in those upgraded interiors don't have to look at their own cars. Spose you can't lose them all.
