Citroën has released a teaser video of its 2011 WRC challenger

Citroën has its given a sneak preview of its new Citroën DS3 World Rally Car adapted for the 2011 championship regulations.

These pictures are screen shots taken from a teaser video of the car which is due to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show this week.

They appear to show the car with the livery with which it will compete in the World Rally Championship – the first time we have seen it fully competition ready.

The homologated DS3 will use a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine in accordance with the new R3 regulations, which requires engines to be downsized from 2.0 litres.

The car will be driven by multiple champion Sebastian Loeb, who has hinted that next year will be his last in the sport.

Loeb spoke to Motorsport News about the car last year. He said: “It is short and wide and that will make it fun to drive.”

“The 1600cc turbo will give it enough power, though, there will be less torque. It is motivating to have another new challenge and to develop a new car.”
