The McLaren mechanic who was at fault for Jenson Button's retirement at the Monaco GP on Sunday has kept his job, according to team boss Martin Whitmarsh.
Button was forced to retire with an engine failure after the mechanic forgot to remove a cooling bung from one of his car's sidepods on the grid.
Whitmarsh said the mechanic was "devastated", but he would remain with the team despite his error.
"When you are trying to do your best and you make a mistake it is devastating," he said.
Button's engine failure meant he lost the lead of the world championship to Mark Webber and slipped down to fourth in the standings. The reigning world champion was initially angry at the error, but accepted that mistakes happen.
"I'm sure the guy who did not pull it out is gutted," he said. "I feel sorry for the guy. We all make mistakes."

No golfman, it does'nt. At the risk this getting boring, the quote (which I used and referenced to help your addled brain comprehend) clearly says a mistake or unusual spelling. However, I am guessing you conveniently forgot to read that part. 'Chit', whatever the intention for writing it, is an unusual spelling, so 'sic' is entirely appropriate. Context is irrelevant. As are you.

Foilball, no you're mistaken, but that's understandable as you don't seem very bright. 'sic' is used to convey to the reader that you are repeating a mistake verbatim - that you are not correcting. However, if the writer clearly intended to use the mistake then 'sic' is NOT required. It is obvious, in this context, that I intended to use "chit" for the reader/s - so 'sic' was not required. If you read your paragraph (that you had to lift from a source, because you didn't know how to define it) you'll see it mirrors what I've just said. I've no wish to go around correcting grammar, as that's what I have to do at work, and we don't all get it right all of the time. Indeed, forums should be a little relaxed about it. But you used 'sic' in a silly way that was completely unnecessary. Maybe you thought you were being clever, but you weren't, you were just displaying your ignorance. Understand now?
