Ron Dennis says the home of the new MP4-12C supercar is two weeks ahead of schedule

McLaren Automotive's new production centre, which will be home to the MP4-12C supercar from 2011, is almost two weeks ahead of its building schedule.

The £40 million development, adjacent to the firm's existing McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking, is "almost two weeks ahead of schedule" according to company boss Ron Dennis.

"2010 has been a fantastically exciting year so far at McLaren," said Dennis. "The successful start to the McLaren Production Centre build programme follows our global launch of the new sports car company in March and a winning start to this season’s Formula One world championship."

The McLaren Production Centre (MPC) will use energy-efficient processes developed during the McLaren SLR's build programme to tailor-make up to 1000 MP4-12Cs from 2011, and will create 300 new jobs.

The first MP4-12Cs will be built in the MTC in late 2010, around three months before production transfers to the MPC.

and remember, this is a British car-maker, owned by British people. No foreign ownership or investment here! McLaren is something we as a country should rightly be proud of.
I'm sure this is tongue in cheek. Originally set up by a New Zealander and now owned by the following. Daimler AG (11%) Mumtalakat Holding Company of Bahrain (30%) Ron Dennis of England (15%) TAG Group SA of Luxembourg (15%). McLaren Racing Team 29%
