David Coulthard may race in the DTM German touring car series this season after testing a Mercedes C-Class for the first time at Monteblanco in Spain last week.
The BBC Formula 1 pundit and 13-time GP winner, who has been a Mercedes ambassador since the end of a 10-year spell racing for McLaren in F1, tested for two days alongside regular drivers Paul di Resta, Gary Paffett and Bruno Spengler.
The 38-year-old Scot retired from F1. If he races in the DTM it is likely to be in a year-old car. There are no date clashes between the DTM and F1, meaning he could continue with his BBC role.
"Driving the DTM C-Class was a fantastic experience for me," said Coulthard. "The car generates not only good power from the Mercedes-Benz engine but also high levels of downforce which gives great performance in medium and high speed corners.
"Overall I am very impressed of the DTM and enjoyed the experience a lot."
Former F1 winners Mika Hakkinen, Jean Alesi and Heinz-Harald Frentzen raced in the DTM after their F1 careers were over, while Ralf Schumacher is currently driving for Mercedes in the series.

Re: Coulthard considers race return
I'm sure Coulthard would have a lot of fun in DTM, but for use F1 viewers it would terrible to lose his contribution to the coverage. Thankfully the dates don't clash.
