F1 champion endures tough Citroen C4 WRC rally baptism

Kimi Raikkonen will continue in the Arctic Rally after having to be assisted back onto the road by spectators following an accident this morning.

The 2007 F1 world champion - making his competition debut in a Citroen C4 WRC - crashed on the event's second stage.

Raikkonen and co-driver Kaj Lindstrom summoned the help of spectators to return to the C4 WRC to the road and continued to the end of the test, albeit 31 minutes slower than rally leader and fellow Citroen driver Dani Sordo.

Raikkonen then drove through the third stage and made it back to the service area in Rovaniemi.

The Citroen Racing team replaced the radiator and oil cooler along with bodywork at the front and rear of the C4 WRC in the 20-minute service.

Sordo continues to lead the rally in the only other WRC entry.

Re: Kimi crashes and continues

Give it a rest, it's his first rally of the season. He was only a s/km off Sordo's pace after that.

Told you so!,.I don't know what Kimi's been told about next F1 season, but i dont think he'lll be back in an FI seat in 2011 either, and i think rallying is not for him, maybe he should've gone to the US and joined Montoya in Nascar, after all there's not many drivers who get payed millions not to race, are there?
