Spaniard tests 2009 car; Ferrari's 2010 livery revealed

This is the first picture of Fernando Alonso driving a Ferrari F1 car.

The Spaniard was photographed at the PAul Ricard circuit in France at the wheel of a 2009 Ferrari, the F60, during a promotional shoot for new team sponsor Santander.

It is believed the livery was being tested for how it appeared in photos and on film, and that it is now likely to be raced this season.

You can drive for video promo's but the speed is limited to 100mph (or something like that) which makes most of the data unusable because the engine isn't revved and the aero doesn't work properly. But it does give the driver experience of the control systems.

So in effect there is nothing to really gain by doing it for testing purposes, as they can familiarise themselves with the controls in the simulators. Even Luca Badoer could have done it (although probably slower).

It's just a good excuse to get Alonso into the car and working with the Ferrari engineers before the real testing starts, and generates publicity before the new car launches. Ferrari have to do something to counter Michael Schumacher's breakfast regimen.
