Minor tweaks for Qashqai and Qashqai +2; prices rise

These are the first pictures of the facelifted Nissan Qashqai and Qashqai+2, which will go on sale next March.

The revised car features some additional kit, and buyers will have to pay an additional 2.5 per cent VAT; as a result, the starting price of the base model will rise by £900, and prices will go up across the range.

Nissan says the ride of the revised Qashqai has been tweaked towards comfort and responsiveness. It also says it has added more insulation material to protect agaistt noise and vibration, as well as changing the front window seal to reduce noise.

Exterior changes include a restyled front end, including new bonnet, front bumper, wings, grille and headlamps. The rear is largely unchanged, save for an aerodynamic tweak to reduce drag and revised light lenses.

Inside, the dials have been changed so that they are easier to read and footwell lights have been added. There are also additional storage areas.

Two new red and grey colour variants will be added to the range, too, while buyers can opt for new alloy designs.

A new eco version of the car has also been added to the range, called Pure Drive. Powered by the 1.5-litre diesel engine used elsewhere in the Qashqai range, the Pure Drive is lighter and more aerodynamic, reducing CO2 emissions from 137g/km to 129g/km. It costs £16,795 - £100 less than the equivalent engined and trimmed standard car.

Haha, in the pic of the dials everything in the the digital display is in mph while the speedo is in km/h.

Not anything funny about that mate most countrys in the EU use KM/H rather then mph for the set value of speed. In the UK we are mp/h but most new cars have a digital read out of the speed in KM/H. Probley a pic from one of the EU states that use KM.H

I thought it was just a marketing error.

This could now make a decent alternative to that MPV I've always promised never to buy myself.

You said on the Altea thread that road noise is an issue for you, well, try one of these. The one I tried (a 1.5dci) was incredibly well insulated against noise. Dynamics aren't quite as good as the Altea but they're not far off.

I had been considering one for when my current lease expires. I haven't driven one yet but it's good to know that road noise is low and may be even lower given the improvements they've made.

It seems like it could be ideal for me; slightly bigger than a Golf (which as much as I like it isn't big enough and I don't like the look of the estate) but isn't an MPV. They're also quite good value to lease (important now child 2 has arrived) so I'll be taking a look.

I am slightly worried by the reliability though as somebody else has mentioned.
