Professional footballers are being offered special driving lessons by their union following a spate of incidents.
The Professional Footballer’s Association (PFA) has introduced the scheme in partnership with BSM to make footballers 'better drivers'.
Gordon Taylor, PFA chief executive, said: "The one thing that’s important for a young male is that they want to buy a car and that car is often very powerful.
"We have to make these youngsters aware of how it can be virtually a weapon of destruction if not handled correctly."
Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo wrote off his Ferrari 599 in a tunnel near Manchester airport in January, while his team-mate Carlos Tevez had his Bentley Continental impounded after police discovered he didn’t have a full UK driving license.
