VW reveals that its Golf has scored a maximum five stars in the new EuroNCAP safety tests

The VW Golf has scored a maximum five stars in the latest EuroNCAP safety tests.

Although the Golf Mk6 scored a maximum score in its original EuroNCAP test, the testing procedure has since been toughened up. As a result, it has been retested.

In the latest tests, adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection, and the level of safety equipment fitted to the car are all evaluated.

This includes a rear crash test, to measure whiplash protection, prompting VW to fit Whiplash-optimised head restraints to the Golf.

The VW Golf scored 97% for adult occupant protection, 84% for child occupant protection, 61% for pedestrian protection and 71% for its safety equipment.
