Peugeot hatch gets the folding hard-top treatment

This is the new Peugeot 308 CC, which takes the French firm’s family hatch and installs a folding metal roof. However, in place of the regular 308’s rear bench seat, the 308 CC gets two individual, full-size seats. Its electric retracting hard-top folds into the boot in 20 seconds.Highlights include a new Euro 5-compliant 140bhp diesel unit that will join the engines from the standard 308 range, plus a boot that improves on the old 307 CC by a decent 115 litres, with a 465-litre maximum capacity. Folding the roof reduces that load space to 266 litres, though.Peugeot has also designed a Mercedes-style neck-warming system, dubbed ‘airwave’, that blows warm air around the occupant’s neck from a heater in the seat. We won’t see the Peugeot 308 CC in showrooms until early next year, but it will make its international debut at the Paris show in October. Expect prices to start at around £18,000.

Re: First look: Peugeot 308 CC

I agree the styling is at least moving in the right direction. I think the car looks best when viewed from behind or the rear 3/4 view. The interior looks classy and substantial indeed and those seats look pretty hefty. This has been a winning formula for Peugeot and I would expect the 308CC to strengthen Peugeot's success.

I would say a very important factor which has played against many new Pugs has been weight and I am curious to see what the 308 CC weighs.

Oh no, another aesthetic CC disaster

Not my cup of tea these "CC" things. Glad to see Peugeot have a new design director though as they've been going downhill for many years with overly fussy detailing and jarring angles where panels meet (IMHO!).
