New three-door revealed ahead of London show debut

Seat has just released new images of its soon-to-be-launched Ibiza SportCoupe. Though the car’s looks are only mildly different to the bigger five-door Ibiza, Luc Donkerwolke’s design has been altered; the SportCoupe’s roofline has been lowered by 17mm. It also gets lower headlights and repositioned grille. As with the five-door Ibiza, a seven-speed DSG gearbox will be available as an option on the 104bhp, 1.6-litre model. The rest of the baby Ibiza engine range has yet to be confirmed, but expect the same units as in the bigger model, with petrol options including a 1.2-litre three-cylinder and a 1.4-litre four-pot. Diesels will all be common-rail units; a 1.4-litre variant will be available from launch.Seat has already confirmed that the Ibiza SportCoupe will be unveiled at the British motor show next month, with sales starting before the end of the year.

The Seat Ibiza is good looking, well-priced and spacious supermini that doesn’t quite live up to Seat’s sporty image

Diesels will not all be common rail units. As the ever aging 1.9 is being chucked in from launch. Hopefully replaced as soon as vw finishes that 1.6cr engine!

Re: Official pics: Seat Ibiza SportCoupe

Prefer it to the 5-Door, but it reminds me of a cross between the Mazda 2 and Vauxhall Corsa 3-Door at the back. Would have been nice to see the black front, like on the Bocenegra Concept, but that will probably be reserved for FR or Cupra models. But it's definitely an angular design, and its proportions are much tidier than that of the current Ibiza. Good job, Seat.
