Modified models generally arrive after the standard car. Not so with ABT's Audi R8.

Audi's new supercar isn't even here yet, but the tuning firms are already offering their own versions of the R8, fully equipped with more power, more bodykit and less taste.ABT Sportsline has released these official drawings of what will be its take on the Audi R8. The main difference is the engine aspiration, now aided by an ABT supercharger that brings power output from the 4.2-litre V8 up to 523bhp; an increase of 109bhp on the standard car. It's estimated that the extra grunt will get the ABT R8 to 62mph in 3.9 seconds, and on to a top speed of 197mph. Other changes will include carbonfibre panels and a new bonnet, with vents built in to cool the engine. No prices have been announced yet, and neither has it been confirmed whether the "you've been tangoed" look comes as standard. If it does, we suspect prices will drop rapidly after launch.
