Revoknuckle suspension finds its way into the Focus ST BTCC cars

Ford’s innovative new Revoknuckle front suspension system from its Focus RS road car has featured in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) this season.

BTCC independent team Team Aon has used Revoknuckle in its twin Ford Focus ST cars and it achieved a pole position and three podium finishes in its debut season.

Revoknuckle was specifically designed for the 300bhp Focus RS to allow it to handle as much power as possible through its front wheels.

Its design modifies the MacPherson strut front suspension arrangement, to allow high power and torque to be handled by the front wheels, while minimising torque steer.

Gerard Quinn, Ford’s motorsport manager for Europe, said: “This is a great example of an independent team using state-of-the-art Ford road car technology to great effect in racing. It’s a credit to the team behind the development of the Revoknuckle that it can be adapted so readily for a competition environment and be so effective.”

Re: BTCC gets Focus RS tech

i think its very good, to do what they have against experienced manufacturer supported teams is brilliant, from memory some factory teams are running three cars, which makes it even better and have the top drivers which makes it better still-they have done a great job and it sets them up fro next season, maybe Ford via Mr.Wilson will start and lend some further support

Why don't they allow equal weight limits for FWD and RWD cars?

Oh yeah, cos FWD sucks.

Poor show Autocar. If you're going to use Ford-supplied stories to fill your pages, at least have the grace to re-write their awful PR-speak & not simply cut/paste handouts from Ford's PR dept - lazy! Must be a slow news day in the motoring world.
