Brazilian ace Bruno is confident of a place on the grid in F1 next year

Bruno Senna is confident he will be on the Formula One grid for the start of the 2010 season.

The Brazilian driver is the nephew of three-time world champion Aryton Senna and he was strongly linked with a drive for the Brawn GP team for this season before missing out to Rubens Barrichello.

When asked what his chances of being on the grid next year, Senna told reporters in Abu Dhabi: “Pretty high, in the 90s [per cent]. I'm happy about it. It's been a very tough year. Sometimes I found myself feeling a bit far away from F1. But we were slowly trying to get back into it.

“I think Formula 1 is in a tough moment, with many drivers on the market and that doesn't make it easy for drivers outside of Formula 1 to get it. But luckily with the new teams there are more slots. It's getting close.”

Senna revealed he was in talks with two of F1’s new teams – Campos and Manor – but he would prefer to race with one of the sport’s more established teams. He was hopeful about making an announcement about his future “before Interlagos”, which is the next round of this year’s championship a week on Sunday.

Re: Senna hopes for 2010 F1 debut

Would be interesting to see another young "big name" driver on the grids. Would also be nice to see his uncle's name spelt correctly in the article ;-)
