Model will be launched at the LA motor show in December

Ford will launch the US version of the Ford Fiesta at the Los Angeles motor show in December.

The US firm launched the ‘Fiesta Movement’ earlier this year, which saw 100 Euro-spec Fiestas being given to people to blog about their experiences and drum up interest in the car.

Sam De La Garza, Ford Fiesta marketing manager, said: “This is the perfect time to show the North American Fiesta.

“The Fiesta Movement will have wrapped up, and after hearing so much about this car leading up to the reveal, everyone will finally get to see what we are so excited about.”

Re: Ford Fiesta to get US launch

I think it's a good thing that the car makers are taking Euro product to the US. The Japanese cars have been doing well and they're selling basically what they sell here, it was just the US designs that were out of touch. The US Focus is nothing like the Euro Focus and really does seem to be a pile of trash, so the sooner they get the the 2010 model out there the better. I've got a 58 plate Fiesta 1.6TDCI Titanium with all the toys and I really like it. Depending on the weight of my right foot, I get 50-70mpg out of it. Sure there's a few newly released model niggles, but everyone that's been in it have been really impressed. Even Ford-haters ! Hopefully along with the other Euro-originated models being introduced to the US, it will help change how the US drives and their expectations of what they should be getting from a car. They've been let down by the 'yank-tanks' for too long. Sounds a bit corporate but I honestly believe that. No, I don't work for Ford, but I do live in Essex ! LOL !

Nissan, Toyota and KIA plan on bringing in next gen Versa (Next gen- Renault Clio)Yaris and Rio Subcompacts

The Nissan Versa is a very different car to the Fiesta. It is based on the current generation of Clio platform, but the quality inside is worse than the European Fiesta (nice seats though). It weighs a LOT more than the Fiesta, so needs a 1.8 for the same performance, hurting fuel economy. The ride and handling are nowhere near the same league. Fiesta will trounce the Versa.

Toyota Yaris is much smaller. It also does not have the image - the Fiesta is going to come in with no "old person compact" image problems to deal with and it looks significantly better. Again, ride and handling wise if kept to European spec the Fiesta beats it hands down.

Kia Rio - Completely out-classed right now. I can't comment on any possible new model, but if all they do is an engine upgrade then it won't hold a candle to the Fiesta.

That's pretty much the competition. The accent is appalling and should not be mentioned in the same breath. Same with the Cobalt.

If Ford price this right (not too cheap, not too expensive), they keep the suspension to European spec and the build quality is OK then this thing will fly out of the showrooms. I love the European Fiesta, I've just moved to North America (and just purchased one car, one more to go) and if the Fiesta is out in time then I'll probably be buying one.

Why so anti-Ford Hyundaismoke? Did a Ford salesman sleep with your missus?
