Audi TT rival sneaks in under £20k with entry-level model

The Peugeot RCZ coupe will cost from £19,900 when it goes on sale next spring.

The 2+2 Audi TT rival, which will be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show, will have a choice of three engines and two trims.

The cheapest model – and the only one with a list price of less than £20,000 – will have the 1.6-litre THP 156 engine and a manual gearbox. Among its standard equipment will be alloy wheels, sports front seats, dual-zone air-conditioning, and a host of safety kit, including four airbags and ESP.

Upgrading to the second trim level will cost £2300, but add leather upholstery, electric front seats, automatic lights and wipers, and larger alloy wheels. On top of that, there will be a range of personalisation options, such as different roof panels and alloy wheels, sat-nav and a variety of styling enhancements.

Buyers can also specify an automatic gearbox with the basic engine – adding £1100 to the price – but the remaining engines come only with a manual gearbox.

Models with the 2.0 HDI 163 diesel engine cost £1800 more than the equivalent car with the THP 156 engine

The flagship of the range will have the 200bhp version of the 1.6 THP engine, which comes only with the upper trim level and costs £24,500.

I wonder if this price is at tne higher vat rate we will be paying after it goes back up on 1st January? Because thats £500 extra near enough on current prices.

But it sounds about right for what you are getting.
