These are the first pictures of the facelifted Ford Mondeo testing.
The car does not look substantially different from the current model, and the liklihood is that Ford is testing front-end revisions only, hence the heavy disguise in that area.

With revised, cleaner engines expected to be the biggest chaenge to the fourth generation Mondeo range, Ford has to test cooling and other functions of the units, and adapt the car to the new engines' weight and positioning.
Minor styling tweaks are also expected, bringing the Mondeo in line with more modern interpretations of its kinetic design language, such as the Kuga and Fiesta, as is a revised interior - an area Ford is known to believe it can make substantial strides in.
The fourth generation Ford Mondeo was launched in 2006, and the facelifted Mondeo is mooted for launch at next March's Geneva motor show.

I had 2 mk 2 (mk1 facelifts ST24 & ST200) and was happy with them, I had 3 mk 3 previous generation Ghia X petrol 2.0, ST220, and Ghia X TDCI) and was very happy with them, I saw the IOSIS concept at the Frankfurt motor show and immediately wanted one. I then saw and test drove a current generation, whilst it was a very nice drive, it was a let down style wise compared to the IOSIS, and the interior looked OK, it was however a bit cheap and tacky and not a massive leap in quality that was promised, technology wise yes but build wise not a bit. I didnt buy one My wife wanted a new Fiesta,(had had a previous gen Zetec, and a Focus) until she sat in one, felt cheap and the mobile phone/infotainment centre console was very plasticky in feel even compared to her old fiesta (bought a 207 GT, didnt feel as cheap). It now look like the info centre console has spread to the new C MAX, I will have to wait and see if the quality has improved to the extent that Ford are saying it has, before I make my own mind up, but I am not holding my breath. If it has as mentioned been carried over to the Mondeo, I will not be interested. Sorry Ford, not good enough IMO.

Logic would suggest that you are correct but I think that Ford refered to the face left MK1 as the MK2.

We've had a Mk1, a Mk1 with a facelift, a Mk2 so the current one is the Mk3 surely.
