New roadster gets the V10 from the M5 and M6

A V10-powered BMW Z4 has been launched by tuning firm Gunther Manhart.

The firm has 25 years experience in tuning and converting BMW’s, and with no factory M variant of the Z4 planned by BMW, this V10 version is the most powerful Z4 available.

The 500bhp naturally aspirated engine is taken from the BMW M5 and BMW M6 and Gunter Manhart has managed to increase the power to 542bhp. The installation proved to be a challenge to the firm, but the V10 unit sits over the cars front axel.

The 155mph speed limiter has been removed and the car is capable of getting from 0-62mph in 3.9secs. Other modifications include a stainless steel sports exhaust, a new six-speed manual ‘box and the differential from the M5.

Prices have not been released by Gunther Manhart.

I don't think anyone felt the Z4M needed more power but it still is a very appealing concept even though all that mass over the front axle is sure to spoil the Z4s handling.. but I'd love to own one!
