Next-gen Swift could be hybrid and four-wheel drive

Suzuki’s new Swift has been caught testing and as our pictures show it now has the family face showcased by the new Kizashi.

The Swift is expected to be unveiled at next autumn’s Paris motor show and is likely to spawn a hybrid and possibly a four-wheel-drive variant.

The Swift Sport is also likely to return; the previous version was well received for its cheap and cheerful thrills.

Although these are the best pictures we have seen of the Swift, much of the car is still covered up. However, the front is clearly visible and it appears the rear lights will be far less conventional than those on the current car.

The overall look is more of an extensive facelift than a redesign, and Suzuki will be looking to improve on the strengths of the current car rather than radically altering it.

At the front, sculpted teardrop lights replace the squared-off units of the current model and the grille, as on the Kizashi, has an element of the MK5 Golf and Jetta about it.

The four-wheel-drive model is understood to be Japan-only, but the hybrid could make it to Europe. There will also be a range of petrol and diesel engines.
