New US supercar

This is American company Devon Motor Works’ forthcoming GTX supercar, which is aiming to break the production car lap record of the Nurburgring.

The GTX, which is due to go on sale next year, could have been a successor to the Dodge Viper if businessman Scott Devon’s bid for the Dodge brand had not fallen through. Now the company has decided to go it alone.

Little is known about the car, but its styling has come from Swedish ex-Ford designer Daniel Paulin, the man responsible for Fab 1 Thunderbird and the Focus C-MAX concepts for Ford.

Rumour has it the car will have over 650bhp, which it might need if it is to be the quickest production car ever around the ’Ring, in the hands of Justin Bell.

The car is expected to have carbonfibre bodywork which is likely to be painted two-tone like the renderings.

The GTX is visually very similar to the computer drawings released months ago and keeps the dramatic squared-off wheel arches and wrapover rear lights. Overall it is a mix of Dodge Viper and TVR Sagaris with old-school muscle car styling.

The car is expected to make its first public appearance at the 2009 Pebble Peach Concours.
