Sporty XC60 variant will go on sale in the UK in November

Volvo has confirmed a sporty R-Design model of its XC60 will go on sale in the UK in November.

The Volvo XC60 R-Design gets a host of exterior styling changes including 18-inch five-spoke Cratus aluminium wheels, chrome sills and twin-chrome exhaust pipes. The lower part of the body is now body-coloured to make the car seem lower to the ground.

The chassis has been stiffened and the damping strengthened, without infringing on ride comfort, claims Volvo. The steering response has also been quickened, while the car’s ride height remains unchanged.

Inside, there is an “executive metal finish”, featuring brushed aluminium pedals and aluminium inserts on the sports steering wheel. Two-tone sports seats also feature.

Lennart Stegland, president of Volvo special vehicles, said, “The R-Design model boosts the XC60's already sporty aura and gives the car an even more refined character in terms of both driving experience and design. These are properties that we know appeal to the discerning buyers of this type of cars.”

Prices for the Volvo SC60 R-Design have not been confirmed, but expect it to start at around £30,000.
