Toyota president Akio Toyoda will race the Lexus GT500 sports car at the Nurburgring 24 hours in May.

The GT500, previously referred to as the Lexus LF-A, is running the race for the second time (it also entered the event last year) as part of the car’s ongoing development programme.

Toyoda, grandson of Toyota founder Kiichiro Toyoda, is part of a four-driver line-up. He also drove the GT500 at the Toyota Motorsports Festival at Fuji Speedway in Japan last November.
