Renault 4 L review - verdict

Renault 4 L

Test Date 30 March 1962  Price When New £645

Verdict

 7 stars out of 10

The market at which the Renault 4L is aimed seems obvious. Its snail-like gait does not distress a lot of French motorists, nor is it likely to trouble the buyers in colonial markets. Its versatility as both a saloon or van with good cross-country performance and very low servicing requirements ideally suit it to the large African and Asian markets which are still wide open to the more adventurous salesman. However, to say that it would sell well in the United Kingdom would perhaps be the remark of a real optimist.
