The Note has a versatile, if somewhat gloomy, interior

Nissan Note 1.4 SE

Test Date 10 May 2006  Price When New £11,240

Verdict

 8 stars out of 10

With the latest breed of superminis offering plenty of added space for not much extra cash, the Note needs to offer something special to grab buyers’ attention. And its spaciousness, comfort and cabin versatility ensure that it does just that, while decent levels of equipment and dynamic competence seal the deal. The gap between superminis and small family hatches is now narrower than ever — but in the tiny sliver of daylight that remains, there is still room for the Note.
